A resource for parents, students, educators, education policymakers, healthcare providers, children's advocates, and all others who are concerned with the safety and wellbeing of children. This site provides a large collection of articles, speeches, and letters concerning the effects of spanking children. Its main focus is corporal punishment in schools, but much of the information covers abuse in general.
Safe Horizon (formerly Victim Services) is a direct service, research, and advocacy organization serving the five boroughs of New York City. This attractive site contains practical information for coping with rape, domestic violence, stalking, abuse, torture, and similar ugly acts, and provides links to resources for those outside of New York. Text is also available in Spanish.
National Domestic Violence Hotline
Provides information and referrals for victims of domestic violence, as well as a large collection of information/facts on domestic violence in various settings (home, work, military, etc) and cultural groups. Also shares information on how to help those that are suffering abuse.
Child Abuse Prevention Network
The Network is dedicated to enhancing Internet resources for the prevention of child abuse and neglect, and reducing the negative conditions in the family and the community that lead to child maltreatment. Visitors can sign up to receive an electronic newsletter and become eligible for special membership benefits.
